Flossie Teacakes: Tutorial: How to make a patchwork quilt

Flossie Teacakes: Tutorial: How to make a patchwork quilt

Just in the nick of time... my terrors are eased a little by the expert help from Florence with the above post.

I can't imagine my end result looking so gorgeous, but I totally appreciate other crafters writing blogs like this.

Bless the internet.

Terrified!

I've done it. I've taken the plunge and begun my first quilt. And I'm terrified!

My sister is due her second baby soon so I thought I'd give the wee bairn a little quilt to throw up on. I have a charm pack from Moda's "It's a Hoot" range and have laid the quilt like this:
Quilt of terror!

Last night was spent marking and pinning the rows together. The next step is to start sewing I guess!

Terry Cat

As I mentioned in my previous post Logan was wanting to get his little fingers on Funky Cat so I made him his own one last night.

Introducing Terry Cat.

Logan gives his usual 'quality control check' by putting Terry straight into his mouth.

I added the Hulk Hogan moustache for fun as we always have a giggle at moustaches in our household. I was going to name him 'Hulk' until my hubby mentioned Hulk Hogan's real name is Terry.

Another thing we giggled at. (I giggled... hubby did a 'manly' chuckle).

You'll see on the back of Terry he's taken a bump to his tail.

It's either a wrestling injury or he jammed it in the car door. He's on the mend though.

Introducing Funky Cat

I've finished the wee gift for my friend's brand new sprog, born last week. The baby block is made up with some cuts of a 'Lollipop' charm pack, and I made up this wee Funky Cat out of felt last night. Logan saw the cat and has been wanting to get his sticky fingers on it so I'm going to make him one tonight.

I'm quite proud of my efforts!

Me-oow

I love Moda charm packs!

Birthday goodies!

Hey shorty... it's my birthday! Good grief, 35 years young. I've already had my first comment about "Being close to 40!" which I pretended to laugh at... then proceeded to clench my fists!

I can now 'officially' use my sewing machine as of today. Hooray! Shame I had to put it back in its box last week due to renovating the house. My birthday pressies this morning consisted mainly of donations towards my new toy... plus I also got some pinking shears (yay), button box and a tape measure. Double hooray! I'm itching to set up the spare room and make it my lair.

Last night I started handsewing another baby block as a friend is having a wee baby boy today (coming out the sunroof). I figured a baby block was a safe option seeing as I'm still wobbly on the sewing front.

I need a tutor!

Skiwi's 1st Birthday Cake

This post is not 'sewing' related, but creative nonetheless.  My wee boy turns one tomorrow and we've just spent a lovely weekend up at Loch Tay with six other babies and their parents. Wicked fun, but I've never been so exhausted. Actually, that's a lie. This time last year I was into my third day of labour. That definitely takes the cake.

Speaking of cake.... (nice link huh!) I made Logan's birthday cake for his party on Saturday. It was Waybuloo themed (a CBeebies children's programme that he looooooves) and as I'm normally a pretty crap baker I was ultra chuffed with the results.
The Piplings have a new home!

Nok Tok and Yo Jo Jo chill-axing
De Li and Lau Lau on a sugar high.

Logan had a brilliant time away with his friends, and the Mummies and Daddies indulged in a little too much celebration wine. As you do.
